“What is Impulsive?”

Hello! I’m Michael Taylor, the sole founder and current creative director of Impulsive. I get this question quite frequently by peers and acquaintances alike, so let me answer this the best I can:

Impulsive is the brainchild of the many questions I ask myself everyday, and interpretations of things I see, hear, and feel. Growing up in places like the Detroit Athletic Club, and traveling to the city for sporting events, concerts, and family visits on Gratiot made the city a real backbone of the way that I thought, and the way that I want to be.

Whether people want to admit it or not, it’s the toughest city on Earth. The people, the food, the culture… it’s something you can only really feel in Detroit; a true sense of togetherness.

It’s the unsung hero of urban American cities. Detroit founded techno, and house; providing a foundation for modern Electronic music. The assembly line? You can find the roots of in Detroit by Henry Ford. In almost every important part of American history, from architecture to automotive, Detroit has played a major part in the way that modern society functions.

The goal of Impulsive? To continue Detroit’s reign of innovation.

We accomplish this by blending Detroit paraphernalia and culture reference in our clothing items, and adding Detroit’s very own techno to our namesake radio, Radio Impulsive. There’s much more to come from us, and we hope you’ll stay for the ride.
